News from ISGB:

For anyone who wants to join ISGB, online registration is active.

Election ballots are in the mail and online voting is simple and fun. Register, receive a password in an email, log on and vote. You’ll receive a “thank you” email to confirm receipt of your ballot. Terry Williams, chair of the nomination committee, has done a fantastic job in recruiting folks to run for the open positions, compiling candidate bios, and researching and setting up the electronic voting. I am running for membership VP, your vote would be most welcome & appreciated.

We’re working on a handout to inform buyers about the differences between artist-made beads and mass-produced lampwork. We’ve enlisted the help of John Winter, Alethia Donathan, and Terry Caspary Schmidt to provide images for one side of a large postcard—on the other side will be information about the differences and the choice available to buyers. The text side is still in development; any ideas/suggestions will be considered, so please help if you have a suggestion. Email me at nolly@nollysfolly.com.

The Code revision is moving along; although we may not make our initial deadline, I’m very pleased with the results of the committees efforts. Anyone interested in the process can check out the articles as they progress on the forum.

The forum is undergoing a facelift and we anticipate rollout in the late spring. The new format is on the same platform as Wetcanvas, so the look will be very familiar and photos will be easy to upload and display. Greg Fuchs, our webmaster, has spent untold hours working on this project—while working fulltime and sorting out our Gathering applications.

There is time to submit your chapter application and reserve a chapter table at the Gathering Bead Bazaar. The table is guaranteed; the fee is $150. Please get back to me if you have questions.

2. Web site up and running . We will now transfer to a Pay/monthly site to avoid pop up

ads and facilitate space and the ease of getting to the site. We find that Tripod no

longer suits out needs.

3. Report on Hot Soup ....First Friday went well. Emily demo'd from 8 to 9pm and Jacqui

from 9-10 . There was a good public turnout.

4. Meetings have been suspended til September 10th so mark your calendars accordingly.

Our demo will be Jeri Warhaftig, and she will show us the use of a new tool for hollows.

That is all I will tell you, you will have to come to see what it is.

5. There is still a need for things for Judy's display for Second Saturday's. Please talk to

Diane Worthington dianeworthington@comcast.net as to what she needs or drop off at the store for the 13th of May, and talk to Patti Dougherty for demo's....she would like to set up a demo schedule for that Saturday The date is June 10th. questions: sparkypd@comcast.net Any pieces and /or beads will be offered up for sale, if you wish.

And there will be display space in the front windows and cabinets also.

Annoucements

Our own Jacqui Collins Parker is the recipient of a grant from Contemporary Glass

through Hot Soup in Philadelphia. She will be taking the week long Loren Stump class

At Carlisle, May 22 through the 26th. Rest up Jacqui, I understand it is a marathon.

Carlisle-----Bring family and friends and anyone interested in GLASS. Please make

sure you keep in mind the brunch of Sunday June 4th at Carlisle. It will be

a fun day for all. I have opened it up to the Mid-Atlantic chapters and the new Chapter

meeting up at Wale. It starts at 10:30 am. come and have waffles and see Katy Abbott

demo and Jacqui Collins-Parker demo. Jacqui is going to do florals, I'm not sure what

Katy is going to do. Make it a nice family outing day. And our last meeting til Sptember.

New Business

1. Welcome two new members, Jeri Warhaftig and Neil Fabricant from West Orange NJ.

2. Yvonne talked about her Artist Guild Project. She is involved in the Toms River Art Co-op

and the Ocean County Artist Guild. She needs pictures of pieces for a portfolio to show

them examples (like a juried show). But the show is not til 2007. Please help with

pictures. Please refer all questions to her. eve52063@comcast.net.

3. Judy wishes to express her thanks for the flowers, in remembrance of her mother.

4. Chris Sweeney talked about Beads for Courage, for Children with Cancer, lots more

info on this project and others in the Fire Mountain Catalog updated edition and

something that we as a group would like to participate in or individually, for the fall.

5. Merle would like to start a news letter and she and Chris Sweeney are going to

collaborate on this project.
